American_Flag_x300James A. Younger, age 82, of Villa Park, died July 16 at Hines V.A. Medical Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, from 3-8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 20, with 9:15 AM prayers to 10 AM Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1S314 Summit, Oak Brook Terrace.  Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

James was the beloved father of Carol A. (John) Knopf of Villa Park; grandfather of Charles (Rosemarie) Janousek of Braidwood, IL and Michelle C. Janousek of Villa Park; great-grandfather of Brandon M. Barton, Nathan J. Dodmead, Halas Janousek and Savannah E. Koch; dear brother of Margaret L. Younger of Villa Park and the late Mary, the late Donald, the late Barbara, the late Robert and the late Richard; fond uncle of 3; and many other relatives.

James grew up in Lombard and lived there until he moved to Villa Park in 1985.  He attended and graduated from York High School.  He attended Sacred Heart Grade School.

James was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 on the USS Oriskany.  He served in the USNR from 1958-1962.   He was a member of the Glendale Heights VFW, American Legion, L.O.O.M. Lodge-Lombard and the Eagles Club.
