A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, August 23, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard.  Interment private.

Susan retired from the DuPage County Health Department where she worked for over 25 years. In her youth, she had aspirations of being a nurse.

Sue grew up on Chicago’s South Side, and moved to Villa Park at age 8. Her grandmother, Catherine Jann Melsheimer, lived with the family and was a great influence on Sue. She had fond childhood memories of frequently taking the train to Milwaukee with her grandmother, always riding in the dining car.

Sue was admired by everyone for her grace and resiliency. In the face of a terminal illness, she still managed to find joy in everyday life and until the end was able to continue her great appreciation for wine and chocolate! She will be missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years.
